Boyertown Home Inspector:  House or Tree House?

So when do you need a new roof?  Sometimes it is more apparent than other times.  As a Home Inspector in Boyertown and other areas, I come across some interesting things.  This past weekend, I saw a roof on a detached building in Boyertown and it gave me a few chuckles, especially when I saw a tree actually growing through the roof!  I wanted to share these pictures.

tree growing through roof

In this picture, you can see a tree has grown right through the roof!  They say trees close to your home provide good shade but this may be a little too close!

This picture shows that roofing is missing on the parapet wall.  Maybe the sellers were looking to plant more trees in the house?

roof covered in vines

Here you can see leaves, moss and some vines growing on the roof.  My guess is the sellers were going for a "green" roof or perhaps a rooftop garden?  I am kidding of course.

This shows what a flat roof looks like with years of neglect. Buyer is looking at replacing the roof, flashing and most of the sheathing in this particular case.

Good morning, David.  I think it may be time for a new roof when a tree starts growing through your roof!  Best wishes for a great day!
