Tiny houses, do you have any?

With the on going debate about "less is good" in this case they might be right.

A lot of baby boomers that want to keep their own home but don't want to maintain the big home where the family grew up. Lets look into a "tiny house" these are about 400sf to 900sf in size.

That's not a very big house you say, no it's not and that's the point. With all the seniors and all the about to be seniors out there, it's an "emerging market".

Bet you didn't know but in 1985, I built a Park model "mobile home". I made it look just like the big ones only smaller.  It was only 420sf. But it could go with you where ever you wanted to go.

I pitched it to a then "Cameo Homes" in Texas. Nope not interested. Then I pitched it to                   "Palm Harbor homes" in Austin Texas. Nope not interested. Then about three years later there they were, and they were called park models. Now there are several manufacturers that produce "park models".

Goes to show you that if you have an "Idea" protect it. I was young and naive, but never again.

P.S. i still have it to this day.

Hi Clint, intellectual property is very hard to protect.  When you have a good idea, don't let it go to someone else for free.

Hi Dale actually the blog started about small houses. But then I got thinking about the "park model" I had built. Sorry but I got a little off track.

But your right, Don't let anything go for free.

Have a great 2011

Hello Clint, the tiny houses are an idea for these times.  Yes, they are really tiny...but, done right with class and style, perhaps would take off.  Perhaps a small neighborhood with amenities built with small homes would work..

Hi Barbera, I allways thought if I hit the lottery. I would build one of those "retirement communities".

But no lotto yet and no community yet. LOL But I will keep the positive attitude as I move forward.

Thanks for the comment
