Art in Charlotte NC Region-Welcome to Mint Hill Arts in Mint Hill, NC- I visited Mint Hill Arts last Friday and I must say I was impressed. They were in the process of taking down their photography exhibit for February and preparing for their Upcoming New Exhibit for March 11 at 7pm. If not for that, I would have some photos here for you. Not only do they exhibit paintings, photography, pottery and more, but they provide classes,as well. There were about 20 classes to choose from on everything from painting, watercolor, drawing, pottery, photography, mixed media, quilting, fiber art, and even a yoga class thrown in. I guess that is to help keep you in shape for all those classes! Classes can vary such as "Abstract Painting", Dive into Watercolor", or "Image Transfer". There are separate classes for children, teenagers, and beginner adults in the clay classes. What a great way for all ages to learn to express themselves.
If your children and teenagers wish to express themselves by "acting out" there are acting classes for them. For those ages 6-11 they may choose morning or afternoon classes where they use fairy tales and children's stories to learn basic acting skills and have fun in the process. For teens ages 12 and up there are morning and afternoon classes using "age appropriate skits". One place for all ages and there seems to be something for everyone! The Watercolor Workshop by Judy Mizell on Saturday, March 12 1-5pm would be a great way to experience Mint Hill Arts, too. It is hands on and open to both beginners and experienced watercolorists. Keep Mint Hill Arts in mind for the framing of your artwork since they have a framing store on site.
If you are unable to make the upcoming March Exhibit Opening, there is a new one every month featuring local artists. Always the 2nd Friday of every month from 7-9pm. Mint Hill Arts offers art related demonstrations and speakers each 4thTuesday of the month from 7-9pm.Their gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays (excluding holidays) from 10am-3pm. This little unknown gem houses a lot of passion and tallent and is working hard to create even more of that in the Mint Hill area. The Charlotte NC Region has its "artsy" areas...well, I think I have found another one and it is only minutes away.
