Craig,

I used to live in #3, and there isn't enough money in all ten of them to ever get me to go back.

Craigster ~ You know that I am not congested unless I have a cold.  Here in little ole Franklin, NC we are growing but nothing like ya'll.  I like to visit the cities but I wouldn't ever live in one again.  I like my elbow room and riding my bike is a lot more safe.

One trip to DC and anyone would agree to this ranking. 495 (the beltway) is a parking lot for 22 hours a day.

Craig, the person that did this chart must have been in Laurel Canyon from 3pm - 7pm or maybe on the 101 Freeway or maybe he was on the 405 Freeway....no I can not believe that would be a reason......just thinking out loud. Anyway someone who has lived in Boston and now LA I am not surprised we came in First. Same Reason we are paying $4.20 a Gallon for Gasoline....

Hey! I am in that picture.... LOL. Great post! We have had much traffic congestion here lately as they had to close the main bridge into town with the flooding.... but it is open again. Back to normal, i can stay where I am.

But I would move there in a heartbeat!

Craig:

I have to agree with Jane a bit on this. Los Angeles is congested but driving in Boston? Well, that is another matter. I am surprised that we are not higher on this list.

How did you get that photo to shake so?  That is a rhetorical question - I really do not need to know. I just cannot look at it for very long. (Highly effective!)

Craig, I have driven through 7 of the top 10, and for me the Boston area is the worst, but more of that can be attributed to the age of the town with it's narrow streets and so many confusing one ways. LA must get the tag because of the highway system.

The biggest congestion we have here in Prospect is when someone tries to take a left turn in the Dunkin Donuts at the same time another car tries to take a left out of it.

Stationed at Cherry Point near Havelock for four years in the early 70's.  Loved it.  Not many jobs available when I was discharged.  Loved all that North Carolina offered to a quality life.  Have thought about coming back one day.  To the uncongested part of course!

Mel - The "rush minute"! Now that's pretty funny!

Gay - Gas prices are out of control. How long do we have to keep talking about it before we rid ourselves of the grip OPEC has on us?

Pat - Good looking? Me? Puhleeeese! My picture is so Photoshopped, even I don't know what I look like anymore! If we are number 11 on the list, which I'm certain we are not, it would be just another case of lying through statistics!

Don - I used to live in #2 (NYC & Long Island), and although I do miss it from time to time, I'm staying right here.

June - You live in one of the most beautiful areas in all of North Carolina. I can see why you won't be moving anytime soon.

Ellie - Every time I go back to my old stomping grounds in NY, the DC area is always the worst part of the drive. Beautiful city. Horrible traffic.

Endre - It's a small price to pay for the beautiful weather, beautiful beaches, and beautiful people who reside in the L.A. area my friend.

Andrea - Come on down Andrea. I'd love to have the opportunity to call you neighbor!

Claudette - Boston traffic is definitely bad. But all the major cities experience tough rush hours. Now about that picture. It's not shaking Claudette. Are you OK?!!!

Ed - It's nice to be able to say that your only traffic is the entry/ exit to the donut shop!

Robert - Come on back Robert! The weather's just perfect right now! And the congestion isn't too bad either!

Whew!  I wouldn't want to live in any of those places...love it right here in Cary!  I'm surprised Phoenix wasn't on that list, though!

Craig:

Having lived in Boston, and spent significant time in LA, Chicago and NYC I can see why these cities are where they are on the list. Glad to see my neck of the woods is not on teh list. But then some folks think of San Diego and simply a suburb of LA. The entire coast is developed except for camp Pendleton.

Jeff - I've either lived in or spent considerable time in all of the cities on the list and I'm glad my new home town isn't on it either! The whole NY to DC traffic can be much like your San Diego to L.A. drive.

Somehow that wouldn't have been my first choice for being number 1, or for that matter, 2, but they must be talking about rush hour.  We are, otherwise, the perfect place to live, on Long Island.

Geri - Having lived on Long Island for what seems like a million years, I know the traffic situation well. But, throwing that aside, it is definitely a beautiful place to call home. Next time I'm back for a visit we'll have to go out for a drink or three!

Cindy - It's very easy. Any picture that you find on the web can be inserted if you just enter its URL in the top box of the inset/ edit image icon. This is especially useful for pictures with motion.... like this one.....
