Want to know an easy-peasy way to paint kitchen cabinets?

Since we know kitchens are such an important room in the home for selling, updating the kitchen is critical to the sale of the home. We know that renovations can cost a fortune...and at times it makes sense only to do some  home improvements rather than renovations.

For home improvements I usually recommend at the least changing the hardware. You really need to know what you are doing when you paint cabinets as you will see in the video. Putting in linoleum flooring is a good investment as is painting the kitchen. Replacing the sink and/or faucet can be a necessary improvement. Counter tops are not hugely expensive and there are lots of options out there that look great from home hardware stores. Of course decluttering and depersonalizing go without saying...or do they? For stagers absolutely but for some home sellers not necessarily so!

Kitchen needs painting and new hardware!

This is an absolutely fabulous video of HOW TO PAINT KITCHEN CABINETS. It is about 5 minutes long but well worth watching if you or your client is contemplating painting the cabinets. Louise Henry a PRES member found this on You Tube and even though she is fantastic at this type of work, she said this video is really, really excellent.

Dana - I am a big fan of - at the least - updating a kitchen with new hardware.  So inexpensive and ANYBODY can do it!  While you are at it, detail-level clean them, inside and out - they can often look just like new with a little "love"!

Its all in the details!

Dana, this is what we did to a kitchen and the property SOLD, after previously being on the market and unstaged for some time!

Hi, Dana.

My friend is repainting his kitchen cabinets this week.  He removed the Hardware as advised in your Video. He then used an Oil-based primer.  He Drop-Clothed the entire kitchen and is using a Graco Sprayer to apply an Off-White Paint over the previously dark-stained cabinets.

Dana,

This is quite important since it is one of the easiest quick solutions that will really pay off in the sale.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Sharon - I totally agree. Sometimes just a small inexpensive change will make a big difference. Everyone loves an updated look as buyers are usually moving up in life!

Kym love what you have - what a fantastic difference and this will certainly help the sale of the home!

Fred - that's great and I am sure it looked fantastic!

Dan - great - your clients will love you for it!

Brian - absolutely couldn't agree more with you!

Hi Dana--That was a great video.  I was a bit worried about that purple paint, but I guess we will never had to "stage" that kitchen!  What I really like is that the video makes the project seem not so daunting so that the average home owner would see himself/herself actually doing this work.  Thanks.

Yes I agree Janet hopefully if a home seller watches that video they are not going to paint it purple! I've actually done something like this myself and in some ways it is a big job but well worth it.

It's not an easy job, so this kind of instruction is very helpful.  Great video, although I'm not a fan of the color choice or the added stencil.  I've shared on facebook, thanks!
