Contemporary or Cold?

Contemporary or cold? That was the questions posed above this photo today. What do you think? This living room was created by Susan Fredman, an interior designer with Susan Fredman & Associates, Ltd.

It's hard for me to decipher whether someone else would consider this cold because I, myself, tend towards a contemporary style in home decor. However, I really don't think this room as whole comes off as "cold." The way the colors work together and the textures accent each other creates a unique and even comfortable look to me. Things I really like:

-The big windows that let in tons of light.

-The way the red brings in warmth & how the tan keeps it toned down.

-The fun pattern of the rug

-The smooth texture of the table and fireplace that accent everything else.

I like lots more, but those are some highlights.

The bright accent colours keep it from being cold.  Without them, I think it would be cold.
