Good for the shop that showed personal care and shame on the shop that acted like they were doing you a favor to do business with you.
It's key to show that you care and it definitely has to be sincere. You know that saying we have in our business, "they don't care how much you know till they know how much you care". The first shop showed you with action that they do care.

I was raised to never ask others to do something you would not want to do yourself and to expect from others what you give in terms of intent and effort. To strive to provide excellent service, help your family, friends, clients and those in need.
When situations like the one occur it gives me pause and is a great reminder to check the mirror and be certain I am projecting who I am and who I want to be, not the result of a bad day. Energy is contagious and like attracts like.
