Thursday is Buy Local Day – A Spotlight on Amherst, NH Businesses – by Caroline DeVore, I’m a Realtor and I’m a “Local”
“Thursday is Buy Local Day!” I saw this headline on an email that I received today from a local chef-owned restaurant. I thought it was a simple and powerful message, along the lines of “Meatless Monday” and “Buy American Made”.
I’ve been thinking about how to use my real estate blog to help customers, friends and new folks to the area really get to know Amherst, NH. Ah Ha! As a Realtor I’m a trusted advisor and expert on the local housing market; as a 20-year resident of Amherst, NH, I’m an “expert” of sorts on where to find those fantastic local businesses, farms and artisans who really make our community a place to call home.
“Who is the best butcher”, “Which mechanic can I really trust”, “Who has the best Gluten-Free selection”, “Do you know any great babysitters”? These are all questions my customers have asked at one time or another. Why not highlight the local businesses and service providers that I always recommend….those that make Amherst, NH a fantastic place to live! 
Every Thursday through May, I’ll shine a spotlight on a local business that I have frequented and can highly recommend. Perhaps it is their customer service, fantastic selection or some other “wow” factor that makes me so happy I want to blog about it. I’m going to help you get to know them and, maybe, inspire you to try them. This is going to be a fantastic journey and I’m excited to show you My Amherst, NH!
Ground rules: (1) My Amherst is just that. My views are based my own experiences and, if they help you find a new hair salon, coffee roaster or mechanic (or they just inspire you to try a new one), terrific. (2) If I don’t have something nice to say, I won’t say a thing - this is a positive blog. (3) For now, I’ll focus on businesses in my local area of about 15 miles. That will include Amherst, NH; Bedford, NH; Hollis, NH; Merrimack, NH; Milford, NH; Mont Vermon, NH and Nashua, NH.
