into San Diego County's back country
This would make a great day trip because the Library is out off of Highway 94 which is a beautiful, winding road through the backcountry of San Diego County. Along with cows and horses, if you make it a leisurely drive, it's entirely possible that you'll see deer, rabbits, and many different species of birds, including falcons, osprey, vultures, woodpeckers, and turkeys.
If you plan your trip properly, you can also visit the Campo Depot of the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. The Campo Depot is located at Highway 94 and Forest Gate Road:
There you'll be able to see many historic railroad cars and engines, including several steam engines, and even take a ride on a historic train.
The gift shop has a nice selection of railroad books, trains, and other railroad memorabilia.

Jim - What a great event at Potrero Library and you're right who can resist food.
Jim, I wish I hadn't already suscribed to your blog just so that I could have clicked by the cat. I LOVE your cat pictures here.
I enjoyed your day trip suggestions. It sounds wonderful that none of them seemed to involve snow or cold.
Again, I absolutley loved the picture of the cat by the click here to suscribe button.
Like to check in with you Jim to see what's going on in Mission Valley and sounds like this is another great event!
mission Valley sounds like such a great place to work and live. I love learning about it. Thanks Jim.
Jim, that sounds like a great trip. I visited San Diego twice, and loved it. The weather seems to be always amazing - beautiful blue sky and sunny. I wouldn't be skating either in such a beautiful place - I would be outside enjoying the sunshine.
Thank you very much for suggesting my post on mission statement for a feature. Have a great Sunday.
Sounds like fun. Is that a headless deer in the picture? The angle you got is amazing.

Belinda – No, it’s not a headless deer, but it is a funny angle. I guess she decided to look around her at the exact moment I took the picture.
