Coffee anyone?
I've been marketing a neighborhood and after pounding the pavement I treat myself to lunch or coffee in a wonderful french patisserie. Believe me I am eating my way through that glass display, so sometimes it's just dessert. I have been there 4 or 5 times and the owner and I have struck up many a lively conversation. Last time I was there he introduced me as the "neighborhood specialist" to everyone that came in! He has a lot of regular customers and the conversation flows naturally with everyone who enters. He asked me to bring my cards in and that he would promote me! He also mentioned that business cards left on his counter without asking, were quickly swept in the garbage. Imagine that! It's really all about the genuine contact with those you meet in your daily routines. So be real and get to know those people you meet in your neighborhood. Reciprocity is key.
*Just got a call from someone I gave my card to last week as I was writing this blog! YAY*
