New Trends in bathroom Fittings & Hardware

Ten years ago I opted for Silestone® for my kitchen countertops as I cook a lot and, from experience, knew that granite, which is porous, can be scratched and stained by water and oil.  Silestone has antibacterial protection, can take hot pans, is impervious, and cannot be scratched unless you use a diamond.  It looks as good today as it looked 10 years ago.

In the past few years the engineered stone surfaces (“Quartz”) have improved in popularity.  I recently visited a $13 million home in the Port Royal section of Naples and the spectacular kitchen had Silestone countertops!

Yesterday I read that bathroom countertops are also moving away from granite to Quartz.  Other trends in bathrooms are vessel sinks, a move away from stainless steel to satin finished faucets, and the color green – good, I love green and have a lot of green in my bathrooms

Here is the full article about bathroom trends.

Christine, we love the vessel sink in our bathroom, and everyone who comes to the house goes; wow!

Green is my favourite colour so it won't be hard to see it being used!

Christine: I, for one, can't wait until the trend finally changes and we move away from granite and stainless steel.  Both, hugely overrated.  Pretty but for the level of activity that takes place in most kitchens, not the most practical.  Stainless steel drives me nuts with fingerprints, etc.  I wonder sometimes, do people really want granite and SS or is it just because that's the trend.

This 60/40 ratio sink is a dual mount and can be installed as an undermount or a topmount. The dual bowls have a low divider, letting you have the benefit of both wash and dry kitchen task, and using less water. Because the divider is low, you still have plenty of room to accommodate larger dishes and bake ware items. With benefits long known to design professionals, this standard kitchen sink size is 80% natural stone which helps it to be both resistant to stains and scratches.
