I subscribe to Netflix. It is one of the best values around for the money. For about $8.00 a month, you get access to thousands of movies in different categories to watch right there and then. Very well done and presented. The selection is outstanding. They even carry the classics. There is something for everyone many times over

SURVIVAL EXPERT SHOW

I have been watching this one program that had me enthralled. A fellow named Bear Grylls, a former British special forces operative gets dropped off in different remote areas and has to survive until the pick-up date. He teaches you how to do just that. Survive and its real life survival too

HE KNOWS THE MISSION

Depending on where he goes, he stresses the importance of prioritizing your time and energy. He stresses food, shelter, clothing, and fire often, but not in the order. If he is dropped off in desert or dry areas, water is your focus. If he is dropped off in wet and cold environment, then shelter becomes the mission first followed by fire.

FIRE BECOMES A REWARD

At all times, he wants a fire and the satisfaction of putting one together not only affects his morale  but is a survival must. He demonstrates and identifies how to gather tinder, then starter wood and then wood that will burn.

FOOD IS ANYTHING ANYWHERE

Food is a fascinating subject on this show. He eats anything everywhere based on what he can find. He has munched on plants, roots, leaves, cactus, spiders, dead animal carcass, skunks, all sea life, raw livers, hearts, gonads, turtles, lizards, alligators, snakes, rat, fish, bugs, larvae, and things that I am not sure about. In addition, he sometimes eats these things raw. He captures and kills using his ingenuity.

WE TAKE WATER FOR GRANTED

For water, he has melted snow, drank urine, sucked plants and & cactus, dug wells, designed water traps, found crevices, collected dew, and drank blood.

PLACE TO LAY DOWN YOUR HEAD

Shelter can be on the ground, in the trees, lien toos, caves, ledges, hammocks, tee-pees, ice caves, tree branches and snowbanks. He has been rained on, frozen, dehydrated, and exhausted.

HE EXPLAINS THINGS

He educates and explains what he is doing and why. He warns you of things to avoid and watch out for. Believe it or not, I left out quite a bit. Now here is an added benefit for me. I have come to appreciate what I have after watching this program. I have also developed a deeper gratitude and respect for life.

I LOST WEIGHT WATCHING THIS PROGRAM

Sometimes this guy will go without food for days with just a few beetles or a lizard to sustain him. He sleeps anywhere and enjoys a good fire no matter what is going on. While I don't eat bugs or sleep outdoors, I am eating less and thankful for each day and the abundance it brings especially after watching this guy be happy with less.

Richie, I watch that as well, and am a litte ashamed to admit I even own some of his clothing line... I do think I like Survivor Man a bit better with the canadian guy... but I will watch both!

People First is a great way to look at life!

and thanks for the Net Flix tip, I have been considering that, and am sick of the huge cable bills!

I agree with using NETFLIX... what a great value.  I use it often for sending gifts.  You can send a 3 month package for hardly any money at all.

Robert....okay, if we are confessing...here I go; First, I watched his shoes and jacket knowing they were the best available and intended to purchase them. If he only knew that, he would take in $$$ from his own clothing line. Second, I did survivor man, not bad but he has no special forces training but is to be respected. Third, I am going to cancel my cable when my contract runs out. Too expensive and the value is questionable. Lastly my dear boy, there is no other way to look at life. PEOPLE FIRST. The whole bible up to and including our daily existence is founded on it. We need to go toward it, not treat each other with indifference or disrespect. The planet is just another dust ball without people to give it value. We can all make it what we want it to be starting with ourselves....A pleasure to know you Robert...carry on

Justin, what an excellent idea. The value is there. The guy who started it persevered and stayed the course. He reached his reward and many have benefited. Good for us all...Best Justin...

Love, love, love Netflix--watched a movie last night and am sending it off today in its bright red envelope and the next one in my queue will arrive in a day or two.  I've sent them so many new members my movies should be free!

As for survival skills my 12 year old granddaughter recently attended an overnight survival trial run with a few members of her Girl Scouts Troop.  They had to pitch their own tents, chop wood and build a fire.  The weather did not make it easy as it was cold, raining and even hailed.  She did it and plans to attend a four day survival camp in the desert later this spring. Those skills will serve her well throughout her life.

Norma...you have discovered Netflix. You know Norma in today's market place, finding a good value is up there with deep satisfaction items. A reward that doesn't cost a lot of money and gives more than it takes. Well done to Netflix. On your grand sweet daughter, reality based social skills will give her the edge in life to think out of the box and do something about what she sees and hears as she travels and explores. I cant say enough good things about it. She is destined for extra-ordinary things. People need to appreciate what they have with all their heart and be content. Thank you for sharing

Robert...I was a scout and those memories stay with you all your life. Please keep this up and remember that the kids take in everything that happens. Make it special for them. This experience exceeds anything money can buy....Well done.....Yes to Netflix. The value makes it very satisfying. They deserve the success

Robert, I did not know he had a clothing line until now. You know I would buy his stuff only for the fact that he has tested it and it has done what it is supposed to do. That is good value any-day....
