Challenge? Bring it On!

By
Home Stager with The Staging Fashionista

When I first saw this living room in Clifton, VA  I felt it was a challenge.  The owner loved this sofa and everything in the room and didn't want any of it removed.   So after some thought and some advice from my APSD colleagues I said Bring it On!  So here is how we solved the challenge!  The house now has a contract after 9 days! Bring it on!

Sectionals can be such a pain! I try to do what you did here when I can Mannie, remove a section and repurpose it somewhere else. great job!

By breaking up the sectional you have definitely made the room look larger. It just seemed to be the patterned elephant in the room with nothing else to look at. Great idea.

Those large sectionals usually don't work when selling unless the room they're in is huge.  Breaking them up is often the best option when the budget is limited ... the "after" here looks like a much larger, more spacious room.  Now instead of looking at the furniture -- which they aren't buying -- buyers will notice the high ceilings, crown molding, and big windows.

Great solution, Mannie!  You've provided a much more likely arrangement for most buyers.  Julie

Breaking up the sectional really works.  Now you've made the focal point the pretty window.  The sofas blend in more rather than dominating the room.  Great problem solving.

Mannie--Breaking up sectionals can be tricky, but you made this work beautifully.  Now the room looks larger, as as Sally commented above, you've moved the focal point to the architecture and off of the "elephant".  Nice work.

Thank you ladies!  I must have done something right since it did go under contract in 9 days.  I took something that really had me stumped in the beginning and was able to create an arrangement that focused on the fantastic bay window.  Thanx for your comments!

Splitting up the sectional was a great idea. Given how small the room appeared before, you definitely made it appear visually larger. Great job.

Thanx Kathy - I have to agree splitting up the sectional was the right thing to do.

It's much more inviting now with the changes you made. It is easier to envision friends or family sitting and chatting in the arrangement you created.  Great job defining the space.

Mannie - great furniture arrangement, makes sense in the room now - not blocking the window and a great conversation place. Great job!

Mannie, what a great job you do.  These pictures really show off your skills.

And... by the way... I took a look at your outside blog on Blogger... and I love it.  Love your style, and love the Blogger Theme you are using.  It looks really great.
