SLO Film Fest

The 17th San Luis Obispo International Film Festival kicked off on March 9th, and would continue till March 13.  News of the tsunami did not impact the screenings, especially  those happening in Avila Beach this evening at Joe Momma's Coffee.

Check out some of the special guests -

Here's a sampling of Saturday's March 12 program -

10:00am Stunt Woman Workshop Stuntwoman put their lives on the line, breaking through windows, falling off buildings, running through fires, hanging from planes and crashing cars. And they do it all in bikinis, negligees, tight pants, heels and long gowns. These are the women Mollie Gregory describes in her new book, The Untold Story of Stuntwomen in the Movies. Mollie writes that ninety-five percent of women's stunt work deals with action not usually associated with women: brawls, car and bike crashes, high falls and explosions. Joining Mollie will be two of the most well respected Stunt Coordinators working in the industry today, Jill Brown and Melissa Stubs. They will share their own stories of how they handle working in what is traditionally thought of as a "man's world."

1:30pm The D-Monster Part animated, part live action, this surreal comedy was written and directed by Kinga Suto, as part of AFI's prestigious Directing Workshop for Women. With animation by Erengo Suto (King of the Hill) and starring Catherine Reitman (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), this dark comedy tells the story an aspiring young screenwriter who lands her first Hollywood job assisting a tyrannical producer. 20 min. USA. In Competition.
