Addicted…
Everyone, at one time or other, gets habitually obsessed with something. Some can't get in enough golf, gardening or blogging here on ActiveRain. Me? I'm addicted to <blush> Harry Potter, the "Chosen One".
Now before you go about pronouncing me daft or "Loony Tunes" and calling for the men in the white coats to fit me with those unflattering extra long sleeved shirts, there is some madness in my methods. Soon, I will be taking the grand kids to Universal Studios in Orlando and must be able to talk fluent Dumbledore, Lord Voldermort, and the other protagonists, Ron and Hermione.
Like any addiction, it started out slowly at first. Popping a CD in the tray and listening to a chapter every now and then. I don't know when I really got hooked. I found I was constantly listening to the books. Mainstreaming one exciting chapter after the other.
Now that I have finished the series, what now? Do I sink into the doldrums of withdrawal? Writhe on the floor in gut-wrenching agony as there is nothing to keep my addiction going? I don't know... Never been here before... What to do, indeed...
Well, Michael. You could start over! Sometimes a second time around gives you insights or thoughts you didn't have before. Good luck!
My broker is also a HUGE and unapologetic Harry Potter fan. He would rather go to the Hogwarts theme park than to Disney World and is obsessed with the books and movies. They really are clever.
Michael ~ I am in your same boat. I purchased the first 3 books for my then 9 year old twin niece and nephew. Before I sent them off, I heard that there was a murder in the first chapter. So I decided to read them first. That was all it took. I was then waiting in between each book for the next. I did get my niece hooked as well. She was actually Hermione one year for Halloween!
I should try books - better than all 8 seasons of 24 on netflix. I've wasted too much time! :)
Well...I'm not a big Harry Potter Fan....Yet! Tanner is just starting to get into it. But, If it makes you feel any better, I am one of those wierdo Twilight Fans! Shhhhh, Is my secret safe with you?
Michael, while I'm not a Harry Potter fan, I am a repetitive addictive. When I decide that I've had enough, I usually replace it with something else. During the past 10 years I have been an avid www.wheresgeorge.com fan which involves tracking dollar bills by serial number. I developed some lifelong friendships with the people I meet at WG. Shortly as life changed from cash to debit cards, I picked up www.geocaching.com. I blogged about it a couple of weeks ago. I still do both of these but not quite as obsessively as prior. I went through a short Facebook addiction as well, but only check in there a few times a week. Which brings me to my latest addiction...ActiveRain. Reading and commenting daily, posting twice weekly, and when I have a spare few moments I've been learning through the search button.
Yes, some addictions are good. :)
Be careful, you will develop the reputation of being the best grandfather around. Not a bad addiction when you have grandchildren.
Life is better when there are flowers in the garden!
Michael
You can hope for new book to keep the addiction going or lose yourself in Active Rain.
Good luck and success.

Michael, don't tell anyone but I am hooked too. Books, movies, all of it.
I even have a grandson named Lucius.... although my daughter swears it has nothing to do with the Harry Potter series, even though she is more hooked than I am.
Michael, I find reading a book that you have previously listened to, to be a great second choice...
I loved all these books! It's been so long since I read the first one maybe I'll start over. Lucky you going to Orlando!!!
Michael, I never watched the Series unil this year....I must admit that I am not an addict. I have friends that are but I missed the allure.
