40 Day Journey - Days 1-4

By
Home Builder with The Flooring Girl

I've decide to participate in Christine's 40 Day Journey Challenge - a challenge to renew yourself and your business.  My business has really been picking up - we are growing and expanding and it's nice to see the progress we make each week in getting our systems in place so we become continually more effective and more efficient.  It's starting to ease my outlook on life and spring is here so time to get myself and my biz in shape.

I really do need to lose some weight, so I'm gradually starting that effort (and will start swimming Apr 1st), but I like this challenge as it will renew my spirits and my business and the two will feed each other for a virtually beneficial win-win.

I misread Christine's instructions, so I missed a few posts - Sorry - but I am doing committed even though I haven't been posting all these days.  I might just post once/week because I'm slammed with work right now:

Business -

  • Been registering our names and website links on Hubspot's Top 50 free local directories.  This will make it easier for people to find us and give us more backlinks.  BTW, I already got a lead from this earlier in the week.  I think at this point, I'm up to #36 (but some I was on before).  Check it out if you haven't already and make a committment to do at least 2-3 every weekend (or one a day).

  • Attended my first Keller Williams sales rally.  Fun and I learned a lot, too.

  • Went to a dinner w/ my BNI power team.  Juanita, the designer of the group had us over and it was a lot of fun.  Good way to relax after a long and not so fun driving day w/ tons of traffic due to all the flooding.

  • Went to a Property Manager mtg on green building.  Met someone who manages 130 properties.

  • I continue to make progress on my local flooring posts.  I have done 72 hardwood ones (one for each town), and now I'm up to 55 out of 72 for carpet and 10 out of 72 for laminate.  This has really helped my SEO and we are getting 2-3 appts a week from internet leads.

  • I wrote a blog post on flooding in basements since we have been getting a bunch of calls on that lately and it seems to be a real need.  I hope to get another out today and I wrote a post for my friend Hillary who does emergency clean up for floods. (and she passes my cards out to her customers).

  • Went to the Westchester Business Council Megamixer and did some good networking.

  • I have been working on templates and forms for my new hire who hopefully can start in the next week or two.

  • I found a new vendor who can help make our life easier w/ deliveries and may be able to save us a bit of money on some of our hardwood products.

  • I've had our new marketing assistant post some of our reviews online in places like Yelp, Kudzu, Google places, etc.  This project should be finished by the end of next week.

  • Been updating many of the pages on my site to include the mega tag "locally owned" as I noticed that popped up as a term in my Google Webmaster tools.  This project will prob. be complete in about a month.

Personal

  • Been wearing ankle weights everyday all day.  Marching in place while waiting for the elevator or in line at the supermarket.

  • Spent some time with my boyfriend.  That was nice.

  • Eating a bit better and making some healtier choices.

  • Spent some quality cuddling time w/ my 2 cats.  I love hearing them purr.

You are moving and shaking Debbie!  You go girl!  I going to give this challenge a try too, but I don't think I'll be posting.  I'm just going to keep a journal.
