I hope we all remembered to move our clocks forward last night (at least those of us in provinces and states that observe DST ;-)
I just wanted to remind you that this change can play havoc with our internal clocks. Statistically, there are 17% more automobile accidents on the Monday following the weekend where our clocks move forward.
Knowing this, if you are on the road today, tomorrow and for the next while (until we all have the time to adjust our internal clocks), try and be extra vigilant. You may be suffering from the effects of losing the hour of sleep, and so may the other drivers out there.
Be Careful!!
Chris - our internal clocks are constantly having havoc wrecked on them by the hours we keep the constant swing from early mornings to late nights keeps them in an upheaval
Unbelievable Chris and that is with folks having all day Sunday to adjust! Couple that with excitable kids home for winter break and playing on the streets and that spells danger!
Good public service announcement. I had read about this 20 yrs ago or so and I always try to be more cautious on Monday after the spring forward. Ironically, I don't think there are fewer accidents the Monday after we gain an hour.
Kathy, you are quite right, the irregular hours we keep are very hard on us.
Al and Peggy, the problem might be that we really do not adjust on Sunday since it is a holiday for most people.
Good Debbie, we have to be extra cautious to compensate for other drivers.
