Hillsdale New Jersey | How Times Have Changed or Have They?

By
Real Estate Agent with Christie's International Real Estate

Hi everybody bob say hi,

For my Sunday Photo post today I wanted to show you how the town of Hillsdale has not changed too too much through the years.

Below are two postcards that are not dated but I would "guestimate" them from around the 1930's or 40's? Possibly?

They are not dated and are courtesy of PVPhotobase.org

And another angle form back then.

Many do not know this but the sidewalks in the front of the stores in Hillsdale were boardwalks until they made concrete sidewalks.

You can almost see them in this shot.

Many years later it doesn't look like the downtown area stores have changed too much.

The architectural integrity remains along with the small hometown feel.

The circle on the bottom left of this shot above, shows where the Traffic Booth stood previously.

That's my pictorial history lesson/post for today on my hometown of Hillsdale New Jersey

Hope you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by.

Have a Great Day

Bob, I did a post sometime back of my little town 'With horse drawn carriages and later at the same intersection with traffic signals. It's a fun retrospective on life and change. Nice photos.

Bob, I love that they have kept the older building up!  Too many of those great buildings were torn down in the past 30 or 40 years.

Bob - That is a really unique way to show off your town!!!  The 'boardwalk' for sidewalks was something I've never seen before....I didn't know that they did that back then.  Thanks for sharing!

Denise - thanks for the warm words. I am kind of a historian for my town as I've grown up here and seen many changes through the years...
