Our Commitment to ActiveRain Members

By
Real Estate Agent

Back in April we drafted a blog post titled, "ActiveRain’s Weltanschauung".  The philosophies in this "living" document are things that ActiveRain members can count on.  We took the creation of this document very seriously.  It was created to act somewhat like a bill of rights, for our members.

As long as the ActiveRain community is alive and vibrant these philosophies will be honored.  That is not something that we are willing to compromise on. Our members are the core of our existence, the guiding light by which our decisions are made. We deeply respect that relationship.

Please read through the Weltanschauung again, if you haven't already had a chance to do so. I would really appreciate it if you would let me know what you think about it.

P.S.  Having a full fledged membership in ActiveRain is free.  That isn't going to change.

As a newbie to Active Rain, this is the first time I read it and thank you for starting this. It is a wonderful place to not only exchange ideas, keep informed on what's going on our industry, have some laughs but also meet agents from around the country. Again, Thank You!

Because I'm fairly new around here, this is also the first time I've seen or read it. Thank you for the time it took to everyone who wrote it.  It's kind of like the Active Rain Constitution. These are all great principles and it's worth going back and reading it often.  I'm so glad that I joined, even more.

By the way, what does MWA mean?  :)

My only regret is that I didn't become part of the AR family sooner. I think the collective group is so strongly committed to your guiding principles that we will stay together in some form or another for a long time.  I am reminded of the time when my privately owned So. Cal. firm was bought out by Coldwell Banker.  All but 5 of us left CB.  We even tried to create our own company just so that we could stay together.  Count me in AR!

Thanks for the reference. I read it today, for the first time. And left the following comment below:

These are a set of good principles established by a Network with vision and insight in the real estate profession. Although dissenting or contrarian points of view are encouraged, I hope the AR team exercises wisdom in discerning why the points are being made and the methods used in making them. Consider the sources and their motives.

Jonathan - going back to that post again was a good thing to have us do.  It's always good for refreshers!  It is certainly a place to learn MUCH from each other.  I'll tell you, I was originally going to the NAR Convention in Vegas in November, but changed my mind.  And I don't feel like I'm going to miss any educational opportunities at all because of all the great information shared so freely right here in our own online community here.  Not one thing do I think I'll miss out on - it's all right here!

And I agree with Teresa - where's the 'fun' in that bill of rights??

Sarah - Jason MUST be jealous!!  MWA!!

Sorry for neglecting this post.  Been a busy couple days!!

Comments from the bottom up:

TLW: Nothing but love to you to! Looking for a cure is somewhere on our development roadmap.  I think we are planning to start working on it in 2015.

Chuck: "You.Are.Awesome"  I like the ring to that.  Do you make stickers with that logo on it?

Thomas: MWA!  MWA to all ActiveRain members.

Kathy: ActiveRain is really sumpton huh?  However don't thank me, it is the community that makes it so.

Ann: It's funny huh.  I am an education hound.  I love learning, but I learn so much of the "best of the best" information on ActiveRain and blogs in general that I also don't feel the need to go to conferences to learn.  But I still love them for the purposes of meeting people.  Often times meeting people in real life that you already knew so well from ActiveRain is electric.

Sarah: You got a MMMWWWAAAA.  I reserve those for special people.  MWA's are pretty freely distributed by me.

Jason: I thought I was special....

Derrick: Good point.  We continue to weigh these issues.  Ultimately, we want to be a structured place to share ideas, and the members need to exercise good judgement as well.

Diane: Your loyalty is inspiring.

Deborah: I am also so glad you joined AR!!!

Alexander: I am thankful for everything you do to make ActiveRain a better space.

Larry: I was just kidding earlier about charging Canadian members for access to the site.  Our Candadian members are very important to me.  I promise to continue to watch out for their needs.  Maybe a Canadian ActiveRain gatherings tour would be fun.   What'dya think?

2.    We believe that real estate professionals will thrive if they demonstrate their local market expertise.  With ever greater access to listings, local knowledge is now the key differentiator.

This has become the defining key in today's market ... a Whitepaper released by RealtyU explores the information overload.  http://pdf/Real%20Estate%20Confronts%20Information%20Explosion%20_Whitepaper.pdf

100% representation means NEVER DUAL AGENCY !

Thank you Jonathan.

As for gatherings, right now we in Canada are too few living too far apart. According to my calculations we're at about 1,300 ActiverRainers. And we're spread over approximately the same coast to coast distance as the continental United States. (In fact in Canada we have one extra time zone than the continental US.)

There are only 332 ActiveRainers in all of British Columbia and the most populous province in Canada, Ontario only has 663 ActiveRainers.

Larry,

I am up for a Vancouver BC meetup.  I love the city!  Out of 332 surely a few people will show up for coffee or something.
