Connors Family Irish Tribute ! Reblogging, for St Pattys Day (edit/delete)
Happy St Patricks Day !
Honoring the Family I have Married into- The Connors, of Western PA. Coal Mining was the way of life for this family of Irish Descent. Once rooted, the Connors raised the next generation locally and my father inlaw earned his college degree . Now the father of my husband, my father in law, Bill Connors, taught high school and became a well recognized name in Western PA football. With State Championships and PA Sports Hall of Fame induction, football also became the career field of my husband, Jeff. Jeff played for his father in HS, attended the same college, Salem , playing for the same team as his father.
Once an adult , my husband began his coaching career. Sports have traveled generations with this family. My father in law is now retired, enjoying the Central Fla. lifestyle and following my husbands Collegiate Coaching with UNC and now ECU over the past 23 yrs. This June my husband will be inducted, like his father, into the PA Sports Hall of Fame.
It has been an honor to have the Connors name for 23 yrs. The family heritage has a strong bond.
Below is something I stumbled upon doing research a few yrs ago on the internet. Needless to say, the family was thrilled with the findings. They knew of this family member but had little information until this showed up on EBay!
Seems athletics began generations before ours. I may not have Irish blood but I understand the Irish tradition runs thick and this tribute is to the Connors descent. Here's to a Happy St Patricks Day this week !
