I just blogged about a price reduction on one of my listings in Pomona, NY and realized that all my current listings outdoor shots show us under a heavy coating of snow. Though the recent heavy rains have finally rid us of the majority of the white stuff and even my
finally melted to almost nothing, it still seems too early to re-take shots.
It seems like we are at an "in-between" stage of the season. Today is the day that we "Sprang" towards Springtime and gained a much wanted extra hour of sunlight. And certainly bulbs are
springing up everywhere, with bright green buds showing on many brave trees in the Rockland, NY area. However the aftermath of winter is evident everywhere. Downed tree limbs and twigs litter lawns, months of dog poop and litter is strewn everywhere. Squirrel ravaged bird feeders and scattered seed husks cover decks and yards. Even though today is the first day I have been able to venture out not feeling like the Michelin man, with the sun is peeking through from time to time, somehow I get the feeling that Spring is alluding us, and more of the same is yet to come. A quick check of my trusty Farmers Almanac confirms my worst fears as it predicts a huge mid-March snow storm,(aren't we already there!) But my hope is that Mother Nature will cooperate and my sellers will take advantage of this "Grey" period to jump on those outside chores before I come by to photograph in the next couple of weeks.
When it comes to marketing a listing, there's only one thing worse than showing photos of a listing that aren't seasonally correct, and that is to to show dated great photos and have buyers sorely disappointed by the lack of kerb appeal when they show up. Your yard, drive and front entrance are the first impression buyers have, and it is essential to make sure all are clean, tidy and well cared for. Rake up those left over leaves, and give the front door and windows a good clean. Shine the brass door knob and put out a pot of flowering bulbs when you have viewings. Show you love and care for your home inside and out, whatever the time of year. Hopefully this time the Farmers Almanac is wrong, and I'll be over in the next week or so with my camera and we will all be ready for the Springtime buyers market. See you soon!
