Being a Broker is like a General and an Agent is like a Private???

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Gateway BRE# 01238257

78%(maybe more, maybe less...) of the calls I receive from other agents that have their Broker Licenses are strong to quite strong in "Agent Busting".

When the majority come on so strong, making sure they explain they are Brokers, I cannot help to be humbled.  Wow, a Broker...  "I am just a plain old Real Estate Agent...."  (maybe a hint of sarcasm??)Brokers are better?

You know what I get in response a lot of the time???  "It's ok, you just have to work hard....????  Then I get the "build up" speech...  "You can do it, study and apply yourself..."

Is there an advantage?  Am I not as successful because I am not a broker?  I know without a doubt when that "law suit" hits, I have more protection now - because we are not brokers - just "Sales Associates".

I am a good agent - There are a lot of good agents - that have made a conscious decision not to become Brokers!!!

On the PD (lapd) - We had some men and women that were working the patrol car for all of their careers, they did not promote - even to a training officer level.  Were they less capable than those on the job that decided to promote?  Were they dummer?  Where they viewed as being, "less than Police Officers"?

I would say Negative Ghost Rider.  In fact, they were better at shooting, arresting, fighting, verbalizing, and serving than most of those that chose to promote without having a solid "patrol" foundation.  They knew probable cause, they knew how to make an OBS arrest - they knew pursuit driving and how to catch the "bad guy".

If you came on the job, PD, with a bachelors - as in real estate - you could promote sooner.  If you have a bachelors, in CA, you can take your brokers test sooner.  I think the same applies if you are an attorney.

Those that are working in the trenches, showing homes, placing themselves at risk, making the calls and representing the best interest of their clients - are REALTORS - Not Agents or Brokers.  REALTORS, If you are a broker, I am proud of you, great job, way to go.  But please don't think because Me and my other real estate friends decided not to become brokers, we are not capable or less worth to serve!!!

When people call - and say they are a broker - they might very well could be - When they call and say they are agents - they very well could be - I ask "Are you a Realtor?"....

People are who they are no matter what designations they have. There are plenty of great agents and there are a number of bad brokers as well.

There's a few advantages to having a broker's license but they're primarily for those that would like to start their own team.

There will always be agents who treat people badly regardless if they are an agent or broker. Use the Golden Rule.
