I recently started selling on Ebay and am now wondering if Ebay buyers are smarter than home buyers. I have always purchased items on Ebay but just recently started selling alot of my clothes on Ebay. I have tons of really nice clothes that I typically pay alot of money for. I am selling them for .99 to 5.99. I am primarily doing this as punishment to myself in order to loose weight. The less I have to wear the more I will stick to exercising. I see that on lot of my .99 listings, I am receiving tons of questions. Some want the measurements, some want the exact colors and some want additional pictures. I respond with measurements and color but explain that at a price point of .99 cents it does not make good financial sense to include more pictures at .25 cents each vs the one free one Ebay allows.
So this got me to thinking, if these Ebay buyers are savvy enough to ask questions on a purchase before bidding that is below $10.00, how come our buyers are not asking more questions on a purchase of $100,000 or more? I sell alot of houses and buyers don't tend to ask alot of questions. The questions are mainly when can we get keys and when do we have to have our down payment and closing costs.
I think alot of our buyers can learn alot from Ebay buyers in asking questions. Buying a home is a major purchase that you will have for many years. Buying a pair of pants from Ebay for $1.00 is not worth loosing sleep over if they are too short or the color is not perfect.
