How Does Your Indoor Garden Grow?

Spring is coming soon, but my indoor garden is what is keeping me going right about now.  As some of you know, my Clivia decided to bloom this week.  Today I discovered that a FOURTH of the five plants in the pot (that was one plant originally) are now either blossoming or about to do so!

See what I found this morning?  Number 4 . . .

I though you might also enjoy the other "garden" in my house--two inside window boxes. My African Violets absolutely love being in a warm room (with the pellet stove) with sunshine pouring in!

Thanks for sharing your photographs. Looks like you definitely have a green thumb.

I did take a few pictures at Lowe's but they have not been posted. I have hundreds of Longwood Gardens pictures. Generally, the flowers at Longwood Gardens are in much better shape that what we find at Lowe's garden shop. It is hard to beat the quality at Longwood Gardens.

Life is better when there are flowers to photograph!

Chris, Nice to know your secret of surviving a long cold winter!  Now they are helping you get to spring!  Yes a green thumb for sure!

Have a great week!

Hello Fellow Green Thumb, LOL. Actually I have only a few interior plants left but my view is you can't have too many. They like each other's company, as do I.

Wow, Chris, you have some beautiful indoor plants! I love plants, but find that a lot of the indoor ones don't do well for me. I have lots of ivy - it's easy and pretty much takes care of itself. And I have a few ficus trees indoors - they do okay. That's about all I can grow inside.

Hi Roy - Yes, I would expect Longwood Gardens would have better specimens than Lowe's.  : )  I think it is great that you actually took your camera to Lowe's--It must be permanently attached to your hand!

Hi Gloria - We actually have one room that we call our winter garden.  That's where the Clivia is blooming right now (note all the windows).  When the weather improves, we will move most of those plants outside.

Hi William - Yes plants make the interior cheerful just as they do the exterior!

Hi Rose - My wife loves plants but complains that she can't keep them alive, so she is very happy to let me take care of them (and I am very happy doing so).

Chris,

Those look like some might healthy looking houseplants! Isn't it fun to watch them grow, especially with beautiful blooms like the ones that are showing off for you right now for your enjoyment! You have every right to boast about them, because they are worth it! Your green thumb paid off!

A house plant is a living thing - care for it, and it brings back gratification. It won't be long before the outdoor plants turn green and those same pictures you took now, will look totally different. For now, what you have growing for you should keep you going :)

Chris, you have a really good green thumb!       I have plants inside that I cannot kill, as sometimes I forget to water, trim, etc. with too many to do!   GREAT photos!

Chris,

Your Clivia plant is in very good shape and really blooming nicely right now.  I like that you named that room your Winter Garden room...  all the green plants make it look very warm and inviting!

Hi Patricia - I was out surveying my yard late yesterday afternoon preparing to clean it up (dead branches everywhere and just a few piles of snow left).  I was amazed to find some plants poking through!  How they survived a winter like this . . .

Hi Joan - It is good that there ARE plants that can't be killed.  My wife says she has yet to find them, however (she did not inherit her mother's green thumb).

Hi Linda - Isn't it amazing how plants can make a room look warm?  It is inviting, but the winter garden room is typically 58 degrees all winter long.  : )  The room with the African Violets is the warm room--that's where the pellet stove is located!

Enjoy your weekend!  I thought this was an unusual orchid.
