I was surprised again by a new statistic, more than 56,000 Orange County homes are vacant. That is a 64 percent increase in a 10 year period. The U.S. Census calculated that in 2010 a massive increase in vacant homes in a report released on Tuesday.
That is a very high figure. That would mean that one in 19 homes is vacant. If you would like some statistics to compare the informant ion to here it is. One home in 28 was vacant in the year 2000. Although the reason for a vacant home is not discussed. Many are due to a home in distress.
Another interesting fact is that Laguna Beach has the highest proportion of vacant homes when comparied to other cities with 16.3 percent. Anaheim had the highest number of vacant homes at 5943. Newport Beach was the second highest with 5442 vacant homes.
