Cobb County School Board - Balanced Calendar Part Two

I recently posted regarding the rescinding of the "new" balanced calendar that was put into place less than 1 year ago. After quite an uproar from parents, students and teachers, David Banks, Cobb County School Board member from Post 5, attempted to have the February vote rescinded due to the overwhelming support for the balanced calendar. The same board members who voted it down, have once again rejected to have it placed on the agenda. Now, there is an initaitive to have these same board members recalled. I say go for it. Three of the four were mistaken that by starting earlier, costs would be higher. Studies have been done and the balanced calendar SAVES money. In addition to that, teacher absenteeism is lower, saving money on substitutes. With over 72% in favor of the balanced calendar, this vote from the parents, teachers, etc. has fallen on deaf ears with these members. Since three of them started in January, to me it would be no great loss to have them replaced. I applaud David Banks for his stance on this issue and for keeping his zone informed.
