Friendship in the Rain

By

I have been taking some time to adjust to my new world without Mom. She passed away on February 18 and it has left such a void in my life. I have always been the type of person that feels if I just work a little harder, I can change the outcome. This time I had no control and no matter what I did, she is still gone. I miss her so much.

Then I went to ActiveRain again today and started reading some posts. I haven't been posting because I just have not felt like I have anything to say. My heart is broken, my world is changed and I have to learn to deal with the changes. I have a good life and a lot to be thankful for. This became so true to me when I read a post by my friend, Geri Sonkin, http://activerain.com/blogsview/2173833/paying-it-forward-when-life-hurts. She has a way with words that will change people's lives. She is a wonderful friend and I appreciate her very much. Thanks, Geri for always having the right words to say.

This is such a hard time for you, I know.  Having been there, I recognize that only time will heal the pain.  Those who care about you can hold you in their arms, in their prayers and in their hearts, but the road you travel is one you much walk alone.  I can promise you, it does get better.

Debra  The pain will pass in time - the love and memories will always be strong.  Geri's post was very supportive - you are blessed to have her as a friend

Debra--So glad you found comfort in Geri's words.  I wish I had something I could say that would take away your pain and make it all better, but I don't.  I am truly grateful for the memories I have of my parents and I am even more grateful that my children remember them and speak of them often even though it has been 7 years for Mom and 4 for Dad.  Seems like yesterday.  Know that you are not alone.  So many of us share this with you.  Take care Debra~~

Debra,

So sorry about your loss.  That is one of the hardest things in this life to endure.  Gerry is a beautiful person and speaks and writes from the heart.

Debra,  Hang in there.  My wife lost her dad a few days before your loss (on Valentines Day).  I know it is difficult.  Know that you have friends in the rain.  Take care.

I am sorry to hear about your loss, Debra.  It is hard to lose one's mother.  But time does heal all, and you will always have her with you in your heart.
