Speechless Sunday - Roots & Aliens

By
Real Estate Agent with Gayle Harvey Real Estate, Inc.

Along with my love of Charlottesville and the Virginia countryside, I enjoy taking photographs of landscapes, plants and nature.  This also translates into an interest in local plants, flowers and folliage wherever my travels take me.  On a recent vacation to Florida I discovered some trees with these unusual roots that started well above ground.  In this photo the knot hole on the right makes the tree almost look like some sort of strange alien being.  This is so different from any of our native Virginia plants.

Pam,

I'm always in awe when I see tree roots like that holding up the tree. I always thought they looked alien but beautiful too!

I like your picture!

That's pretty wild.  Haven't seen anything like that around here either.  Interesting shot.

Those look very tropical.  We get a lot of trees with weird roots here too.

James - It does look strange.

Thanks Joe.

Brigitta - It does look like some kind of creature.

Patricia - Its interesting how so much of the root system is above ground.

Mike - Its fun to go to new places and photograph plants that we don't have back home.

Georginia - I would imagine that the Florida plants would be more like what you have than our Virginia plants.
