So here I am with my 'Pay It Forward' for this week.
I had mentioned about my niece settling in Boston area few weeks ago in my Pay It Forward - Settling in the west.
Last time, it was helping my niece's family by giving them a ride from Logan to their temporary apartment when they arrived here. During next week, I helped them find an apartment where they signed the lease and moved in (And I had few other 'Pay It Forward' acts - hence did not blog about that.)
Now was the bigger challenge - furnishing the apartment. Through my niece's colleague, they managed to get almost everything they were looking forward to. The colleague was leaving for India as his project was completed. I also felt relieved for couple of reasons - one, they will start living normal life (instead of sleeping on carpet) and second - they become independent and find out their own way instead of depending on uncle (that's me, BTW)/
So when I talked to my son-in-law early this week, he mentioned that it was difficult to sleep on carpet - I was wondering what happened. Well, they did not get the furniture because her colleague's project got extended. What now?
Fortunately, being in Real Estate helped me to help him. I came across a potential client who wanted to sell almost everything, very soon - as he is planning to move soon. My niece's family visited us last night, had dinner with us, stayed at our place and today morning, I went to my client's place to find out what all he'd sell. Good news is - most of the things he wanted to sell was also on my son-in-law's list of items to buy.
Of course, I ended up bringing many things in my car today. Some more things (like TV, DVD player etc.) will be U-Hauled during the week - but I was happy, I could help them get the most basic things they need NOW! More importantly, he will be able to sleep peacefully soon - on the queensize mattress.

Looks like, next few months will be a 'pay it forward' for my family member, trying to settle in Boston area.
