JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011
Lori Wilson Park, Cocoa Beach, FL
Come out to Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida this Saturday for a family day of fun in the sun to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes begins at 9:30 a.m. There will be plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy like crafts and a bounce house, so be sure to stop by and support JDRF in its mission to find a cure.
Juvenile Diabetes is an auto-immune disease where a person's cells attack the beta cells of the pancreas that produce insulin. One mother explained that her daughter must check her blood sugar before each meal, before exercising, and at 2 a.m.! Treatment includes 1-4 insulin injections a day to maintain proper blood sugar levels. Her child must also count and record all of the carbohydrates she eats at every meal and report this information each week to her doctor to help manage her care.
If you can't attend, please make a donation to one of the many teams, like Team Abby Rose, participating in this event to help those living with this disease look forward to a cure.
