February 2011 home sales trends are out for Baton Rouge and it was a pretty decent month.
There were 234 homes sold in February 2011 as compared with 209 homes sold in February 2010. Year to date, there have been 422 homes sold as compared with 415 homes sold during the same period in 2010.
The average home sales price was $189,700 and 147 of the 234 homes sold had a sales price of less than $199,999.
There are 2,533 homes available for sale in East Baton Rouge Parish which equates to a 10.8 month supply at current sales rates. Typically a 6 month supply is considered to be a healthy real estate market which means we have some excess inventory to work through.
If you are contemplating buying a home in the Baton Rouge area, it is still a great time. Interest rates are very good and there is plenty of available inventory to choose from.
