Janice, I actually inherited the chairs from my husband when we married 2 years ago. They have been outside under a porch... As far as the amount of paint. I used three cans for the 2 1/2 cans for the 2 chairs.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have actually used this flat spay paint on some other chairs. They have a very "Pottery Barn" feel.
Also, I picked up a couple of inexpensive plastic outdoor chairs. They were white and I spray painted them a hammered bronze. They look like metal,, great for a front porch.

Stacy what a great way to reuse your inventory and for so little expense. Love the black. My theory is that every room should have something black in it

Stacy, the chairs came out very nice. Good idea and great way to use what you already had.
I think someone should write the book of 101 uses for spray paint...kinda like the duct tape one!

Spray painting is my buddie. I too changed 2 chairs I had from white to black. Black and red always looks great, doesn't it?
