This week is St Patrick's Day and what a great week to begin my "Green Tip of the Day".

Tip #1 - Bring the outdoors in with houseplants. Houseplants remove toxins and pollutants from the air around us. They have been proven to remove formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene. They add humidity to dry winter and summer weather and make a home look more inviting. Plants also convert carbon dioxide to oxygen by the process of photosynthesis.
Check out my prior blog on the best houseplants for cleaner air.

An idea that is becoming very popular are the "living wall" systems in which plants can be grown vertically on an interior or exterior wall. There are quite a few systems that are out there for sale if you don't want to try and fashion your own. They can be colorful, depending on what plants you choose to grow or even functional, such as edibles. Check out www.woolypocket.com or www.eltlivingwalls.com .
