St.Patricks Day Parade Baton Rouge LA

Top 'O the Mornin' to Ya

This Saturday March 19, 2011, come down to the mid City Garden district of Baton Rouge and see the family celebration of our favorite saint, St.Patrick, and collect beads and other throws (evey parade in Louisiana has them!)

The First St. Patrick's Day Parade

The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place not in Ireland but in the United States. Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New York City on March 17, 1762. Along with their music, the parade helped the soldiers reconnect with their Irish roots, as well as fellow Irishmen serving in the English army.

My favorite Irish song is from The Irish Rovers, about the unicorn and all the animals.

So start the player, dance a little jig, and come out Saturday and join the fun!
