Hot Springs Village AR - "Honey, It's so bad since you been gone...it's almost like you were here."

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams, New Homes, Real Estate, Carriage Homes

One of my best friends in the entire world who shares an office next to mine at RE/MAX in Hot Springs Village AR and who also happens to be one of the funniest people I know, came up with this catchy title as her next big country song hit! We were having one of those days and neither of us seemed to be able to remember anything good. More on that in a bit.

HELLO WORLD! This Is My Maiden Voyage Into The Deep Blue Sea of Active Rain.

Dock & The Deep Blue SeaThis is my first foray into blogging anywhere much less ActiveRain (I'm many times late to the party but always good for some laughs) and I really wanted to start by encouraging all of you in my new vast digital family on AR who may need a boost just like I did a couple of months ago.

When you are in professional sales AND have a certain personality, it's easy to focus on that 1 out of 10 who didn't appreciate all of your efforts on their behalf, especially in this gut-wrenching market and to let that really get you down. Many of us routinely go way beyond what should be expected, and so it stings when we aren't properly appreciated or treated with respect.

DANGER! Take This With You in the Event of Stormy Conditions!! Lighthouse of Hope

This is my warning to you out there who beat yourself up like I do many times when these rare circumstances occur:
DON'T FOCUS YOUR PRECIOUS ENERGY ON THESE SITUATIONS BECAUSE IT'S REALLY AN INDICTMENT OF THAT PERSON & NOT YOU.
Your personal health is depending on it. Your relationships with family, friends, and colleagues are depending on it. Your Current Clients who need your full effort & focus today are depending on it.

* CHOOSE EACH DAY TO FOCUS ON THE 9 out of 10 Who Appreciated That They Received The Best Service & Knowledge That Their Commission Could Provide.

HERE'S The Final TAKE-AWAY.......

To some of you out there who may be Newbies to this business of Real Estate Sales, I would also like to offer this advice passed on to me by the top agent in my market when I first started 9 years ago: "Some of the best decisions you will ever make are those people you chose to walk away from and not do business with." In this market its been tougher to remember but my regional manager has once again reminded me recently, and he's so right. He's really right because the value of your reputation and self image are priceless and must be protected at all costs. We must remember that.

Well, Thank You for reading and for allowing me the opportunity to preach more to myself than anyone else.  It's my sincere hope that it helped someone out there too. So CHEERS to Being the Best YOU that You can be.

Wishing Each of You Success In All Things,

Welcome, and thanks for the great message. You are one of the "glass half full" people (as I like to think of it). Try to surround yourself with them and try to avoid the "glass half empty" people!

Great post and good thoughts for everyone.  Me included.  Iam a workaholic and spend way too much time at work to the detriment of my health and family.  Times have been tough, but for our Team we seized the Day and have been very busy.  We have kept our numbers at or above where we were in prior years but have worked harder to get there.  Stop once in a while and smell the roses and enjoy life.

Welcome to active rain. Great post and yes so true. I was focusing on that 1 about 2 weeks ago. Because of another agent's misinformation, she thought I was lying to her and said she needed to terminate the "bad relationship." i sent her everything the agent ever sent me with regards to what I was telling her and she realized I was right but she still decided to move on. I was po'd and told the other agent that he needs to be more careful since he caused me to lose a client. Not like he cares of course.

I love Hot Springs. My grandparents used to live on Lake Hamilton. I miss it there!

Hunter,

You have a really cool signature for a Newbie. I had better do something about mine!

I agree with what you said about walking away from business.  Back in the day when you could get a stated income loan (a.k.a. liars loan), I refused to coach the buyer on what to state as their income in order to qualify for the mortgage.  I know I lost business but if more Loan Officers had taken the high road, maybe a lot less people would be losing their homes now.

Dear Hunter,

We have lost clients, because we would not jeopardize our integrity. In the short run, it may sound like a good idea, but in the long run, it is never worth it. Better to sleep well, knowing you always do the best you legally can for your client and what is fair for everyone else.

Ric - thanks for sharing your success. I'm happy to hear this for you and hope it continues. People like us must stop to enjoy life in order to re-energize ourselves to keep on giving. I think we've hit on another blog subject, hmmmm

Amy - thank you for sharing. It's disheartening when these occur and hopefully won't experience too often. Just keep moving on doing your best and Chose to NOT let this effect you. Perhaps you are being protected from a bad situation. Just don't look back. You should come back to Arkansas for a little R&R sometime. Call me if I can help set you up with some discounted lodging, spa treatments, etc. Be my pleasure.

Gilda - Thank You for sharing. It's good to hear about people out there who are really looking out for others in life. Life is not even close to being about money. Hopefully some of those people will remember that you were honest with them and did what was best for them. I have found that this comes back to you in spades...sometimes monetarily and some in other ways. You Are A Goody! Hope to see you here again.

Brenda & Marte - Thanks for your kindness. Have a great weekend!

Dorte - Good Rest is irreplaceable for sure. I'm proud of you! Thanks for your comment.

Hunter - a cup that is always half full will NEVER be half empty when we take your suggested approach to the happenings of a day.  Having a "Pity" Party is never a solution nor a way to make the next day any better.  Welcome to AR!

Billy Ray Cyrus - I'm shocked you've never heard of him. He was sort of a one-hit wonder - he had one big hit called "Achy Breaky Heart" in the early 90s...maybe you remember that? (He also had a memorable song called "I Want My Mullet Back" LOLOLOL!)

His daughter, Miley Cyrus, now plays "Hannah Montana" on the Disney Channel and Miley has a few hits of her own. If you turn on the entertainment news, she's usually in there somewhere trying new things she probably shouldn't.

It does matter who you hire.

The positive attitude that you shared is great.  What I mostly noticed in your post is what a fun group of people you work with.  ENJOY
