The President of the Republic of Texas!   A true Hero, immortalized by his Actions, not just by his words.

If only we had Heroes today...  where are the Thomas Jeffersons, the Sam Houstons, Steve Austins, General Robert E. Lees, Harry Trumans, Ronald Reagans, and John F. Kennedys?

I have been to the Sam Houston Memorial - it is a great experience.

Joni, I've actually read quite a bit about Sam Houston.  What a foreseeing person.  I love how they've built a great place to share the history.

Are you a pro photographer, Joni? All you pictures are ...worth lot more than 1000 words...

Q: How did you 'frame' it with a 'copyright' symbol, too? just curious...

Joni, That's a sizable complex!  And doesn't the number 1836 have special significance? :)

Can we put that on the list of things to do when Zoe & I come visit?  I love history and, from what I've read, Sam Houston is well worth learning more about.  Beautiful picture too.  Do you put in an order with God for those skies?

Joni, this past Sunday my wife and I visited the park and explored the historic Houston Family homesite! (We didn't go into the museum, though... next time!) We also enjoyed just sitting on a park bench beside the duck pond. What a treasure for Texans to enjoy. :)

I’ve been there! Way back in 1995 I think it was. We also went on a tour of that prison over there in Huntsville and saw that monster statue of Sam Houston on the freeway. Is that still there? You should get a picture of it if it is.
