What makes Great Falls Montana Great? - The Waterfalls of course.
Great Falls, MT sits along the Beautiful Missouri River - the longest river on the Continent. This famous fly fishing river winds it way to Great Falls from the Rocky Mountains by Bozeman Montana.
As the river passes Great Falls it flows over 5 different waterfalls over a 10 mile span as it heads downstream. The river drops a total of 612 feet from the top of the first falls to the bottom of the last. Lewis and Clark traveled this path on their journey across America. These waterfalls include: Black Eagle Falls - the only set of falls actually in town. Colter Falls - now submurged in the pool of water behind Rainbow Falls, Crooked or Horseshoe Falls and of course the Great Falls of the Missouri.
The Great Seal of the State of Montana depicts the Great Falls of the Missouri.

Missouri River waterfront property around Great Falls is highly sought after and demands a premium price. Many homes along the river have their own private boat docks and river access. At any given time there are several waterfront homes for sale. As popular as riverfront living is, there are still many empty lots along the Missouri that are ready for new homes to be built on. The river at Great Falls and upstream is deep enough to boat, water ski and play on PWC's. During the summer months you will see all of the above happening from Broadwater Bay - a city park with boat ramps and docks.
There are also 5 Hydro Electric Dams on the Missouri River next to Great Falls. This has helped Great Falls get the nickname: The Electric City. But that is a topic for a future blog.
