I am not a Realtor, but one who is in the business with you. I am in the Home Warranty industry in AZ and TX. We pooled a couple of Realtors a couple years ago about ideas to add to a home warranty to make it more valuable to their clients and Re-Key came of it. So we now send out a locksmith for the service fee ($59) right after closing. Talk about peace of mind. The client generally does this anyway and so it became a huge selling point for us. Then when I was doing a presentation during a lunch GRI class, the instructor pulled me aside and said that Re-Key thing is awesome. Have you suggested to Agents that they offer the service as a closing gift? I must have had the deer in the headlights look because she had to explain her idea. Brilliant! So there you have it, whether you are in AZ or TX and can use the service through OneGuard Home Warranties or not, you can arrange to have a locksmith come and Re-Key your clients home for them.
Tom,
Good morning and good post. I agree 100% with Shannon & Indera !

Welcome to AR, Tom. You have no idea how much my wife speaks highly of you. Keep up the good work.
One of my agents really likes getting her clients a keypad deadbolt upgrade which they seem to really like.
Hi Tom, Terrific idea and I'm sure the buyers sleep better at night knowing the new home is secure. Well done !
Brilliant idea! Going to give it a try right here in little-ole Fort Wayne, Indiana!
$59.00? That's a steal. The last time I had a home re-keyed for a client it was $129.00!
One of the best closing ideas I've heard of! It seems like such a natural, but I've never heard of it before. Great peace of mind for the Buyer! Thanks for sharing.
What a great idea. Especially if the property is vacant. You never know who has extra keys!
This is a brilliant idea and great post. CONGRATS on getting a feature post in your first month!!!
Wow, what a great idea! Why didn't I ever think about it? My husband is a handyman (and recently got licensed so is now my partner) and we could send him along to do it (the changing the barrel way). In fact, he recently put a garage keypad on our house so we could offer that, too - an entire package! I'll have to talk to him about it, although maybe I can make a deal with a local locksmith like you did.
Well,, it is $100 through a local company but I have a keypad installed for the garage door. If your keys are lost you can get in as long as the power is on!
Re-Key is such a great idea and I know just the person in Naples to do the job. Thaks for the tip
Thank you all for the great comments. Sorry to be MIA...been in Houston opening up shop there.
The idea about the keypad and garage door remotes have led us to consider including that in with our Re-Key service. Thank you for that.
It is idea's like this from the RE community that help us include solutions to your clients problems.
Happy Good Friday and Make it a Wonderful Easter Weekend!
I've done this before as a closing gift and it was much appreciated! One less thing for the buyers to do when they move in=)
