I really LOVE Boise, Idaho!

I was driving down the road the other day, looking at the still snow covered foothills and thinking about how much I love this place.

I grew up on the East Coast - Maryland to be exact. So maybe the fact that it's SOOO different is why I love it so much. I've been out here 15 years and each year it only gets better and better.

Oh Boise, I do love you - let me count the ways:

1- The weather - I know - that may seem odd to most, but I love the four seasons we have here - and for the most part they are relatively mild - at least milder than where I grew up. More than ANYTHING I love the dry climate. Very little humidity in the summers - it's HOT - but I can live with hot, just not humidity.

2- The people - Boise and the surrounding towns (Treasure Valley) is not so big that it feels like there are people everywhere, and most people are really nice and friendly. There is just a really nice sense of community in the whole area.

3- Downtown Boise - I love the whole area, but I love how 'little' downtown is, but that it's got everything we need. Years ago when I worked downtown, I used to love walking the streets and feeling like I was in a 'big' town. Now I love to go down on Saturdays when the open market is in season.

4- Parks - There are many in the area and although I don't frequent them as much as I should, I love knowing we have them. It's pretty amazing the number of them - my personal favorite is Adventure Island Playground in Meridian's Settlers Park. I was on the committee to build this amazing park and it's was a great experience.

5- The Greenbelt - This was a new concept to me when I moved here - but a beautiful walking path of 23 miles thru the city and along the river, what a great concept! I used to rollerblade on it daily years ago and I loved it.

6- Daylight! - I love how in the height of the summer it stays light till almost 10pm here. You can do so much more and the days are normally so beautiful from May thru October you just always want to be outside.

7-Proximity - We are just an hour flight from Seattle or Portland, and a little more to the LA area. Seattle is my favorite place to visit - so it's nice to be able to hop a plane and be there in an hour - and with the time change, it's only a matter of minutes! :)

There are many more reasons I love this area - I could go on and on. Along with loving Boise like I do, I really love sharing that with buyers that are considering moving here. I know it's not the right area for everyone, and thank goodness for that - as that would take away much of it's charm. But I do love to share my favorite parts with those considering a move here. It's a wonderful area!
