Some of our buyer clients have home repairs and renovation in mind as they seek bargains in the inventory of lender owned homes and short sale pre-foreclosures. Many of the offered properties have deferred maintenance issues and a good many need more serious renovation. Typically, the worse the condition, the better the bargain. The secret for success with most of the fix-up transactions is the financing that allows the cost of the improvements to be included in the mortgage amount and all allows for the work to be completed before the new owners move in.
