HELLO EVERYONE!
"You're Fired!" You ever heard those words? (Besides from Donald Trump.) Ouch, woo, devastating, incriminating, turning red, what'd I do (or not do)? Where do I go? Tell the wife or husband? My life is over..hmmm, maybe not...new beginning..yeah, that's it?
I was fired once. Kinda cool! Best thing for the *#@!%$#& who fired me and, of course, for me. No such thing as a perfect fit, and sometimes the shoe is way too tight. ..it really hurts. You would really like to place that shoe in a darker, more secure place.
Anywho, what the heck does "you're fired" mean? Are we going to be lit on fire by dozens of bic lighters? Are we going to be placed in front of a firing squad..ready, aim, fire. Are we going to be shot out of a cannon at the circus? Fire!! Hmmm, maybe not..new beginning..we light a fire under our backside and move on. It wasn't a good fit..life goes on, and something better awaits.
"You're hired." I like the sound of that. Too close to "you're fired" though. It's no fun looking for a job, but we've all had to do it and I suppose we'll do it again and again before our job journey ends.
Hiring someone is like what my good friend's (Forrest Gump) mother always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get/" She was "right on" Forrest. I remember hiring a SUPERMAN (on paper) at the table Rock Lake Kimberling City Chamber of Commerce in Missouri. He talked a good game, had the swagger, and his resume.."Hail to the Chief". I hired him..he was the "BOMB" without the fuse..a dud.
No sure thing in hiring, but it always seems to work out. We just need not fear.."What, me worry?" "Don't worry, be happy."
I applied for the Prescott Chamber of Commerce Director when I first came to this area. Then I applied again. Never got an interview. Then, I interviewed with the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce. Hired! The rest is history. You never know, but you keep trying. Prescott..they couldn't have handled me..no way. So, my shoe fit in Prescott Valley. Hmmm, new beginning..great future.
Hired, fired, it's all part and parcel in life. We are all on trial at our work place, and whatever the verdict, as we grind from day to day, it will work out for both parties. If the shoe fits. If not, you head to another shoe store that carried your look, your style.
A friend of mine just lost a job. Sad at the moment. Hopeless for a split second. And then hmmm..new beginning, new opportunity, new shoe store.
Fear not, cause hiring and firing is here to stay..it's you and me that have to lace up our shoes and move onto new beginnings. "Ahh, just right. My toes have room to wiggle."
Fire your way in the Ex-Press.
