OLD Fashioned VS NEW Fashioned Real Estate agents. What are you talking about?

I had one of the most interesting questions while being interviewed by a perspective seller that I wanted to share with you all.

I was asked if is was a "NEW Fashioned Realtior' or an "OLD Fashioned Realtor"?

The seller proceeded to tell me before i answered, that they had decided to hire a self proclaimed "New Fashioned" Realtor to sell their home originally because they would have state of the computers, technology and marketing which would give them an advantage. That what they got was a state of the art web page and a listing in MLS. What they did not get was an agent who answered their phone when they had a question or wante dan update, an agent who never showed up during any of the 3 showings at their house and agent who was not attentive to their needs.

They said they decided to search "Old Fashioned" Real Estate agents and found me, that they had also seen a blog saying to ask friends, family and co workers for a referal or if they had information on this agent. To their surprise, a coworker had sold their house through me and a neighbor had bought their house through me, both of who were very happy, so that is how they got to be talking to me today.

So they asked what is an 'Old Fashioned" Realtor,  I let them know that i offer 'Old Fashioned" Real Estate Service, that i was not old fashioned... I always get a chuckle....

I let them know that 'Old Fashioned" Real Estate service includes being there for each step of that buying and selling process.

They said their fear is business models where agents list properties and you do not see that listing agent again. They complete unassisted showings, do not attend inspections or the appraisal and do not answer their phone. They did not want tio feel all alone again during their sale.

I let them know It actually helps me as a hands on Realtor when people hear that there are still Realtors who practice old fashioned customer service while utilizing new technologies to assist them as a client. My "NEW' Fashioned approach is where you market, where you advertise and where you reach new potential buyers. That technology can not replace actually being in the house to answer buyers questions, show them where the lot lines are and ket them know the specials features of the home that no one would know abnout on an unassisted showing.

If you have any questuions on buying or selling a home in New Hampshire, please feel free to contact me.

Many agents just need to remember thier "Old fashioned" manners . they would serve them well.

Scott, a mix of the old with the new is a good approach. One or the other is not totally bad, and there are many good things about being old fashioned I would agree.

Hi Scott, I think a top notch Realtor® would be a blend of both.  As you said, Old Fashioned service is important in today's market, just as important as NEW high tech services.  I believe in Old Fashioned values with a complete internet marketing system, as you do, I know!
