Rick the owner, has put his life into this shop. Knowledgeable in every aspect in biking, he asserts himself in helping educate first time buyers with a purchase of any type of cycle you might be interested in.
Javelina Cycles has been in business in Ahwatukee for several years. Bikes range for various tastes and lifestyles of people; from tri-bikes, professional riding bikes, vintage bikes, 10-12 speeds, and Ultra motor bikes (the only dealer in Phoenix who sells these interesting bikes, trailers for bikes, children carriers.
What sets his bike shop apart from the traditional sales and repairs is his honesty and ethics as a business owner. I proudly told him that I was looking for a road bike, but that my friend stated anything under 3000.00 was cheap. Rick could of agreed, but he stated that since I was just starting off, to see if I would even like cycling that I should try a good, but cheaper model starting out at $750.00. It’s not about the money or a quick sale; it’s about caring and listening to prospective customers needs. This is where his personalized service came in; he educated me on every product in the store.
Javelina carries more than bikes, if you need biking shoes, socks, pedals, maintenance, biking clothes, helmets, gloves, glasses, bike accessories, they’re available.
One of the interesting aspects about his business is his mailers, in which he offers community bikers the opportunity to network and make new friends with monthly morning bike rides. All level bicycle riders are welcome; they have a women’s and men group. The ride is a 30 mile ride, Ahwatukee loop that lasts approximately 1 ½ hours that starts at 7 a.m. Everyone meets at the bike shop and disperses from there.
