Independence Day in MIddletown is still going to happen - but the hours will be reduced - it's a very nice event too!
However the Middletown Recreation Council has had to make cuts - depending on Middletown Burgess and Commissioners for funding.
The council has cut three $1,000 scholarships and the annual Fishing Derby, as well as reducing the Independence Day celebration back to a 3 pm starting time.
Still at least $19,000 needs to be raised.
The Recreation Council holds an annual egg hunt, and monthly spaghetti dinners and teen dances to raise money for the Independence Day celebration.
