Have you ever woke up in the morning and felt like your eyes were glued shut …and that if you got out of the bed you would surely die? You push yourself to get up and get going and once you’re up and started you start to feel better?
I often feel this way as I wake at 0415 to train at my local gym …but once there and “started” …I find myself thinking I’m glad to be there and I have a great workout. On the occasions when I fall prey to weakness, and sleep in …I almost always say later ...“That was a waste …why didn’t I just get up and stick to the plan?”
I’m no less tired, nor any more rested …and a lot more ashamed for failing to follow through on the commitment made to myself. Self-Accountability is hard to maintain unless you make the commitment a habit …a routine like brushing your teeth. As I wake up, I try and visualize pressing a “start button” to get my “motor” going every morning …admittedly some mornings it’s takes a few presses to get it to turn over …but once I’m up and moving, I’m glad to be in gear!
Relate this to prospecting …
I am sure everyone has times when you dread picking up the phone to call relationships from your Book of Business (BoB) …or the anxiety of writing 5 Hand Written Personal Notes to those you recently spoke with.
There are times when you fear making the lunch appointment with an A+ past client …or the uneasiness of asking a friend the “Who do you know” question …All these feelings flood in even when you know for certain this is what makes you successful, the one thing “required” to grow your business and your income.
Have a visual “start button” you can push when it is time for you to start your prospecting …hopefully this will motivate you to get it done and not disappoint yourself.
If you don’t start growing your business …who will? Get started today by spending at least 1 hour per day …5 days per week prospecting for “new” business and you will see your business pipeline fill to capacity!
