Ride Bicycles in Roosevelt - Seattle

By
Home Builder with Retired

We have just launced a video only blog on a WordPress site. I'd like to share my efforts here.

Marjie and I will be promoting businesses in the Roosevelt and Ravenna neighborhoods of Seattle. These are businesses we frequent and we hope to encourage local residents as well as visitors to do the same.

This is our first video. Hopefully we'll improve with the number of businesses we visit.

Glenn - Nice start! It made me think of a few things I could try around here. The audio in your piece picked up all the background noise and made it a bit hard to hear you. Looks like you might be investing in wireless mikes in the future! Keep up the good work.

Neat idea Glenn.  A wise man once told me "focus on your non-customers, and things will fall into place." I think that can be said of what you're doing with your video blog.  Those business owners will surely think of you first when one of their customers asks them "Hey, do you know any great real estate agents?"  Also reminds me of another quote from one of Orlando's old time banking leaders, "Build your community, and build your business."  Best of luck with this new project.

Paul - If we can manage one a week, we'll have fifty in a year.

Jane - Thanks. It's taken longer than I had hoped to get started.

Richard - Thanks for your video series and for the link issue. I changed it one place but forgot to here. (Double slash)

Peter - The noise was bad. I'll know to time the stop lights better next time.

Mitch - Thanks, Mitch. Some businesses are having a hard time grasping why I would advertise them for nothing. Hey, why not?

Glenn and Marjie are of to a great start in vlogging about local businesses. You're going to hone in on techniques that notch up the quality as you go. This is a terrific start. I love to see you guys in front of the camera for portions. I'll email you a few suggestions that come to mind... well done :) -c-

Video is alot of fun.. The difficulty that I have is that my new camera shoots in mp4, and to do voice overs, has to be converted to avi or someting similar becuase imovie does not recognize mp4.. gets to be a little hassle...

Glen - First Seattle is beautiful and you and your wife did a great job with your video - you seem very comfortable in front of the camera - me, not so much! (The stager in me couldn't help notice what a beautiful fireplace you have!)

Kristine - When Marjie bought the house (before we met) tht fireplace had about 15 coats of paint over the stones. It had been a rental for many years. She spent months stripping it back to the natural stone.

Great first video post! You and Marjie nailed it! I love the gentleman waiting to show you around in the bicycle shop.

I have real problems wanting to edit my videos to the point of not having anything left! I guess that is why I have focused on photos so much.

I can see it is time to step outside my comfort zone and pull out that video camera my husband got me LAST YEAR!

Thanks for sharing...

Judi - Marjie and I found it pretty difficult to get over ourselves. Finally, focusing on the message and forgetting appearance let us move forward.
