Happy Birthday Johann Sebastian Bach

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21, 1685. His work remains to be one of the greatest Classics  ever created. One of my favorites is Prelude (No. 1, from Welltempered Clavichord)

"I was obliged to be industrious. Whoever is equally industrious will succeed.. equally well." ---Johann Sebastian Bach

Patricia-Thanks for the history lesson. So does this mean you are done with your UGH taxes? Being in the rain with all us AR addicts is lots more fun though. Hope you did get them done. I have to find out whether I have to or not. Enjoy your evening.

Sharon, wish I could say yes, but the answer is no. I needed another diversion. I wonder if this is what A.D.D. and/or A.D.H.D. is like???

This is RIDICULOUS!!! Thanks for checking in with me. I'm sure I'll be pulling another all nighter!

Have a good night!

Patricia - and now to delightful table top photography - my, Girl, you are versatile. You have inspired me to clear my garage to get my miniature studio up and running again. Winter tends to promote clutter that must go for me to be more productive. You seem far more organized than me.

Ah, like me Patricia, another lover of classical music. Very good. Bach beats taxes any day or you can have on Bach in the background. Might make that task more pleasant.

Patricia,

I have pretty eclectic taste in music, but Classical is right at the top of my list.

Patricia, Classical music is my favorite.  My music teacher used to tell me "if you learn to play classical music....you will be able to play anything.  She was right.  I'ms still learning.

Hi Patricia,

Having given up on piano lessons when I was a kid, I have always encouraged my kids to play.  My son lasted 6 years but my daughter is still taking lessons after 9 years.  I love hearing her play; classical is her favorite.

I liked CPE's Solfeggietto, but father Bach's Partitas were not fun for me. My tastes lean a lot more towards Gershwin and Beethoven sonatas, but it's been a long time since I've played.

Dear AR Friends and Music Lovers,

I've been playing "beat the clock," in between trying to make a living the last few days... my sincerest apologies that I couldn't get to each and everyone of you. However, I wanted to say thank you for sharing your thoughts, your passion for music and all that you do to make ActiveRain such a blessing.

Here's a quick reply to all, I know you'll understand:

John, I love Beethoven and Gershwin. Gershwin was easier for me to play on the piano than Beethoven. But I loved Beethoven because he challenged me more, i.e., Sonatina No. 1 in G and Sonatina No. 2, in F., I can still play Fur Elise .

It's good know you love classical music too Michael, it's a nice alternative to whatever is currently playing on the radio.

Lisa, I hope your daughter keeps it up, I'm sure your son has channeled his passion else where; otherwise make sure he didn't give it up because he didn't think he was as good as his sister.

Rob, ah...Bach - he's up there with the greatest. My other loves are for Myra Adler (Two Butterflies), Franz Behr (In the Gipsy Camp), every mother loves Brahms (Cradle Song), Chopin,(Preludes, Op 28 Nos 6 & 7), MOZART!!!!  Franz Schubert (Serenade), Tchaikovsky and Strauss.

Vickie, that's awesome that you're still learning! When I played I could get lost in it for days...

Navona, I started playing piano in in fourth grade. My parents didn't have a piano and I collected cardboard and I made my own keyboard. Practiced on the keyboards until the day of my music lesson which was every two weeks. I loved that day because it was the first time I got to hear the notes I practiced on cardboard! By the time my parents bought a piano, my teacher quit giving music lessons but I played anyways. When I got married, my parents kept the piano and I didn't get another one until I was married with children. It was an old one and I resumed lessons - it was my passion! I had a house fire in 1994 and the piano wasn't covered by insurance. I still have it but it's flat and keys stick. I tried to get it repaired but it's hopeless is what I was told. But I haven't been able to part with it and I miss it so..... Someday, I hope I can buy one. I miss it so much. With the business, there's no time for the cardboard method.

Richard, you always struck me like a musician. Now I know! I think having an eclectic taste is best. From classical I jumped into Boogie Woogie which is where I was at when the house caught fire. I think that's when I was at my best... Oh Boogie Woogie was FUN!

Gary, listening to Classical music is good any time of the day! I agree!

Larry, you made my day! I went to the office and received the card. Thank you!!!! I am sure you are a man with many talents and passions for life. Seeing my own photographs in those cards you sent made me cry with tears of happiness. A HUGE big thanks!

Sharon, still working at it... it's like weeds that never go away!!! Thanks for understanding. Hope all is well on your end and thanks for your understanding.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY EVERYONE!!!!

WHEN STRESS GETS YOU DOWN, TURN TO MUSIC!

My favorites by Bach are his Brandenberg Concertos (Concerti J). My mother was one of the accompanists for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, so all of us children were playing piano by the time we were two. I play the violin as well, and it is the stronger of my two interests, although voice is my greatest strength. I played violin with the Corpus Christi, Houston, and Bryan/College Station orchestra and sang with many church and community choirs over the years. Check out my new series titled The Music Chronicles of Russel Ray. I’ll be having some classical music posts, too. By the way, be sure to stop by and read my latest Pay It Forward (part 3) post; you have a shout-out!

Dale,

That was very, very kind of you to let me know about Rob's post. Kindness is such a benevolent act. If you hadn't brought it to my attention, I might have missed an opportunity. It was such an honor to be listed on Rob Thomas' post with such great people, as yourself.

Respectfully,

Patricia

Russel,

I can't even imagine what it must have felt like for you to grow up with such amazing talent and musical variety. You were amazingly young to start piano at two years old and you must have been very, very proud of your mom, as I know, she was of you. Mothers have a tendency to live vicariously through their children, so for you to pick up the violin and achieve such notable success during your college days, following in her footsteps, must have raised her self-esteem to celestial levels!

I don't know of anyone else who could say, "My mom was an accompanist for the Mormon, Tabernacle Choir!" What a great lady, your mom always has, and always will be!

I nearly forgot about Bach's Brandenberg Concertos - I think that was his greatest works of all! Would you not agree? You must have been very popular in Corpus, Houston and College Station! I will definitely check it out and I'm looking forward to reading your future posts about your experience!

It's truly an honor to be acquainted with you.

Patricia
