Life Lessons from the Soccer Field....

Last night, the family and I headed over to Rotary Park for soccer practice.  Tanner's team practices there twice a week.  Half of the team didn't show up, one is sick, one got hurt, blah, blah, blah.  So, in an effort to help out with practice, the guys offered to play against the kids.  Keep in mind that the kids are 6 and 7 years old.  They all looked a little nervous about playing against grown men.

The first lesson I learned last night is , Just because you are bigger and older, doesn't mean you are better and it certainly doesn't mean that you are faster.  I think the kids would all agree that the phrase, "Old Guys Rule", doesn't apply to the soccer field.

After practice, we packed up the car to head home.  As we were pulling through the parking lot, I noticed that a few new signs had been placed through the park.  NICE!

(Sorry, they are a little blurry...Too tired to get out of the car :0)

Hi Amy,

There are lots of life lessons on the playing field, that is one of the reasons I like that my kids play sports.  I am jealous of the warm sunny days that have hit the Crystal Coast.  Things are still kind of chilly here in Southeast PA and the grass is still brown.

Good morning Amy,

I agree with many life lessons to learn from sports which is the reason we encourage our kids to play! Love the signs..the guys were great to step in and help out even if they young ones ran circles around them! Your grass is pretty green!!

I think I've played around on those fields with two nieces and brother in law a few years ago :)  And yes, kids can outrun us old guys :)  Bill

Michael - I stood on the sidelines taking pictures for a reason...I knew those kids could kick my bum on the field :0)

Carol - There are many lessons to be learned on that field....If we pay attention.  I Love Soccer Season!

Lisa - It certainly wasn't my intention to rub in the fact that our grass is green, and we are finally to shorts weather...Sorry!   You'll get there....SOON, I Hope!

Dorie - It was so much fun to watch the men playing...They were exhausted at the end of the game!  I guess the signs were donated by the local rotary club....We like them!

Bill - Even tho' the old guys had what they thought was a better strategy...The kids still kicked their bums :0)  It was fun to watch!

I love the "is it fair to all concerned" very important message to everyone every day.

That should be the one we all live by. Especially in this business lol

Enjoy the day

When my brother was coming up to his 30th birthday, he decided to play in a Fathers vs sons soccer tournament and was horrified to find his team called the Old Geezers!  He was amazed at how fast the kids were; like little gnats

Amy - Now let's put things in perspective....if there were no kids and all grown men there would be bloody noses, scrapes and maybe even a broken bone, missing tooth or two!

But when you have to refrain from "annihalating the enemy" due to the fact they are young kids  you'll have to beat them outrunning them which at our age isn't going to happen! LOL

Don - For Real....Happy Day to you!

Susan - They are terribly quick...I don't even attempt to keep up!

Will - Absolutely, We all learned a lot on that field....We always do!

Laura - Rollerskating....FUN!  I would probably spend more time on my bum than on my feet, but still....FUN!

Nevin - Believe it or not, there were a few injuries.  Tanner got beat up pretty bad, poor Sasha got stepped on (by a grown man), it was crazy out there.  The kids bounce right back up and keep running lightnin' fast (as Tanner puts it), and the men....Well, I won't go there ;-P

Amy, bigger or older does not always mean better. Look at how you're devouring your competition and you're not bigger OR older. You're just better.
