This is a picture of the Texas state flower - Bluebonnets. They are blooming all along the highways and in Austin along the freeways and in peoples yards. There are other wild flowers but Bluebonnets create a colorful blanket across the landscape and they are just starting to bloom.
It's now officially Spring in Austin and the temperatures are already in the 80's with gentile breezes. What to expect in Austin for Spring: March winds - it can get windy and this is also the beginning of hail season. We've lived here for over 20 years and have only experienced a serious hail storm once. It resulted in getting a new roof which we needed anyway. April showers - we hope to get rain because there are usually drought conditions in the summer. April is often a rainy season May flowers - since the wildflowers are alreay beginning to bloom they are likely to be gone by May and the temperatures should be in the 90's.
