Just Say No!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Alliance in Louisville, Colorado

I read a blog post today and I am saddened by how some of my fellow Realtors get sucked into paying for lead generation programs which are very costly and usually generate poor results.

As Realtors we are bombarded constantly by people trying to sell us stuff: training programs, coaching and mentoring programs, contact management systems, software programs, marketing paraphernalia, guaranteed selling systems, lead generation systems, leads and every other imaginable thing. I absolutely despise the people who are trying to scam Realtors with their high priced seminars and programs. You know exactly what I am talking about because we all get tons of junk mail, spam emails and phone calls to our office and cell phones. It's just crazy how much we are targeted as Realtors. They keep on us because they know a good percentage of Realtors will buy these programs. Sadly, in my opinion and based on my experience, 95 percent of these programs will not help your business. So who wins here? The vendors certainly do, not the Realtors.

Have you noticed how many national Real Estate trainers and coaches there are in our industry?  How many of these trainers and coaches are active Realtors? I always wonder what these folks can offer if they have not been active as a Realtor in a long time. Our market has changed so much since the 1970s. The last ten years alone have seen a tremendous amount of change. It just seems to me these trainers do a really good job of selling their training and coaching programs, but is their content relevant? Do they add value to us as Realtors and help us with our everyday business?  Maybe some do, but it's something to think hard about the next time you are writing them a check.

A message to the blood suckers out there!  I say "no" to all your get rich quick schemes and promises of million dollar leads!  Please stop calling us!

Sad to say, I fell for this scam, it sounded so good when they are given there presentations, that I fell for it.  The lead generation was the worst, the leads were horrible, after six month I discontinued it and swore I would never purchase them again.  And to this day, I have not!
